Legal business name (or DBA)
Match what's on file with FMCSA. Both sides of the power unit, on a contrasting color.
USDOT Number
Minimum 2 inch letter height, sans-serif, readable from 50 feet in daylight.
Contrast & visibility
Letters must visibly contrast against the panel. Reflective is optional but inspector-friendly.
GVWR (when over 26,000 lbs)
Display Gross Vehicle Weight Rating on each side if your unit meets the threshold.
State permits
KYU, NM WDT, NY HUT, CA, and TXDMV are state-specific. Add the ones that apply to your routes.
Keep it readable
FMCSA §390.21. Anything peeling, faded, or wrong size can flag a roadside inspection.

What file formats should I send for my logo?
Vector files (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg) print sharpest at any size. If you only have a PNG or JPG, send the highest-resolution version you have - I'll let you know if it works or if it needs to be rebuilt.
How long does turnaround take?
Text-only DOT/USDOT kits join the weekly batch: order by Tuesday midnight, ship Thursday, arrive Friday or Saturday. Custom logo or multi-color kits run 5-10 business days from artwork approval, then ground shipping. Rush production skips the batch and ships next-day on either path.
Can I install it myself?
Yes - every kit ships pre-masked with a photo install guide and the squeegee + alignment tape you need. Lettering and decals are designed to be DIY-friendly.
